(FAQ)

Where is SVFA located?

SVFA does not have a physical location.  All animals in our care are in foster homes.
We serve animals in need within Barnes County and surrounding areas.

What happens to animals that are captured by the Valley City Police Department?

Animals reported to VCPD Dispatch and captured by the VCPD are impounded for 5 days.  During that time the animal is advertised as impounded by the Valley City Veterinary Clinic on its Facebook page.  During that time, the animal is safe, fed and warm.

The animal owner contacts VCPD to claim their animal and pay the pound fee.

SVFA partners with the City of Valley City to give impounded dogs and cats, that remain unclaimed, a second chance at life.  Following the city's 5-day holding period, unclaimed animals are welcomed into our program, where they receive compassionate care and the opportunity to be adopted into loving homes.

Euthanasia is used only when it is the most humane option for an animal's health or well-being.
